I. Academic department information:

The Department of Quantitative Finance and Risk Management. is one of three departments of the Faculty of Finance, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City. With a team of highly qualified personnel (including 02 associate professor-PhD, 02 PhDs, 02 PhD student and 02 masters) and visiting lecturers (including 01 associate professor-PhD and 01 PhD), the Department currently manages 05 subjects, including: Introduction to finance, Taxation, Insurance, Fundamentals of actuarial science, Financial markets and financial institutions. Besides teaching activities, the Department also actively participates in scientific research activities and other group activities of the University and the Faculty. The Department has always been making practical contributions to the sustainable development of the Faculty and the University.

  • Course description: Introduction to Finance is a required subject in the basic knowledge group of the finance industry. The course provides general information about the finance industry, investment, and financial management; lessons of success and failure in finance, investment, and financial management; financial crises and professional ethical standards in the financial industry; Finance training program, job positions in the finance industry, and introduce students to the necessary skills to be able to self-study and research financial issues. In addition, students also experience practical observations at financial institutions and businesses. Thereby, students can orient their careers, plan their studies, practice skills, and cultivate moral qualities to meet the requirements and develop their careers in the financial industry.

4. Fundamentals of actuarial science

  • Course description: Fundamentals of actuarial science is a module belonging to a specialized knowledge block to equip students with basic knowledge of actuarial knowledge in insurance businesses.
