I. Academic department information

Department of Corporate Finance - Faculty of Finance at Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City is an integral part of the education and research system of the University. We are proud to introduce such a department, which has diverse and experienced officers, including one PhD. Assoc. Professor, nine PhDs and three masters, all of whom have passion and commitment to corporate finance sector. 

Our Department of Corporate Finance specializes in the management and research of key aspects of corporate finance, to enable students to grasp how finance affects business management and development. 

We offer a diverse range of subjects, including: 

- Corporate Finance: Basic subject helps students understand how to handle financial management and make strategic financial management decisions. 

- Multinational Corporate Finance: Focuses on the special aspects of multinational corporate finance, with interactions between international markets and currencies. 

- Corporate Financial Management: Training skills in short-term financial management, from capital budgeting to a financial planning model. 

- Corporate Financial Analysis: Learn how to apply financial analysis models, practice analysing for financial management. 

- Financial Modeling: Create financial models in Excel to solve financial problems.

    1. Course description

Corporate finance is a foundational subject in the field aimed at providing learners with the basic knowledge necessary for making corporate financial decisions. Beginning with defining and analyzing the nature of corporate finance, the course emphasizes understanding the objectives of financial management and the key decisions related to investment, financing, and asset management. An important part of the course is exploring the time value of money, including learning how to calculate interest rates and apply them in pricing bonds and stocks, debt repayment planning, and evaluating the financial effectiveness of investment projects. The course also focuses on profit and risk, offering learners a comprehensive view of risk management and effective investment. Finally, the course addresses the cost of capital and capital structure theories, helping learners understand how to determine the cost of capital and make financing decisions in a business. The entire course content is designed to not only provide theoretical knowledge but also to focus on practical application, preparing students with the necessary skills to succeed in the field of corporate finance.

The course includes 4 chapters, providing in-depth knowledge of corporate finance, with a particular emphasis on the financial management issues of a multinational corporation.   1. Financial modeling

    1. Course description

The "Financial Modeling" course is part of the major and specialization knowledge block. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and tools to create financial models based on Microsoft Excel (abbreviated as Excel). The course focuses on applying theory to practice, with lectures on various topics followed by in-depth practical classes, where students work through real-life problems using Excel. The course topics include the general principles of building financial models on Excel, creating models to calculate present and future values, evaluating investment opportunities, modeling the risk and return of investment portfolios, pricing models for stocks and bonds, and bond price sensitivity calculations. Upon completion, participants should be able to apply Excel-based financial models to solve financial problems, achieving proficiency and practical skills in financial modeling.
